Happy new year.

I will post more next year. My holiday ends.

Bah Humbug.

SANTA CLAUS - An Engineer's Perspective
There are approximately two billion children (persons under 18) in the world. However, since Santa does not visit children of Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Jehovah's Witnesses, or Buddhist religions, this reduces the workload for Christmas night to 15% of the total, or 378 million (according to the Population Reference Bureau). At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that comes to 108 million homes, presuming that there is at least one good child in each.
Santa has about 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 967.7 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with a good child, Santa has around 1/1000th of a second to park the sleigh, hop out, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left for him, get back up the chimney, jump into the sleigh and get on to the next house. That's really why it's pointless to stay up and watch for him.
Assuming that each of these 108 million stops is evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false, but will accept for the purposes of our calculations), we are now talking about 0.78 miles per household; a total trip of 75.5 million miles, not counting bathroom stops or breaks. This means Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second or 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second, and a conventional reindeer can run (at best) at 15 miles per hour.
The payload of the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child has nothing more than a medium sized Lego set (two pounds), the sleigh is carrying over 500 thousand tons, not counting Santa himself. On land, a conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds.Even granting that the "flying" reindeer could pull ten times the normal amount, the job can't be done with eight or even nine of them --- Santa would need 360,000 of them. This increases the payload, not counting the weight of the sleigh, another 54,000 tons, or roughly the weight of the Queen Elizabeth (the ship, not the monarch).
600,000 tons travelling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this would heat up the reindeer in the same fashion as a spacecraft re-entering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer would absorb 14.3 quintillion joules of energy per second each.In short, they would burst into flames almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them and creating deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team would be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second, or right about the time Santa reached the fifth house on his trip. Not that it matters, however, since Santa, as a result of accelerating from a dead stop to 650 mps in .001 seconds, would be subjected to forces of 17,500 G's.A 250 pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of the sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force, instantly crushing his bones and organs and reducing him to a quivering blob of pink goo.
Therefore, if Santa did exist, he's dead now.

Just a couple of pics that say it all.

Sunday 26 June 2016

That phony petition for a second referendum.

Much has been made of a petition to the Government asking for a second referendum on the UK's exit from the EU.

Looks good doesn't it?

However it is not all as it seems. When you look behind the scenes you come across where the votes have come from.

And for instance:

Located 800 miles south east of the Falklands, and with a permanent population of zero, the South Atlantic British Overseas Territory ofSouth Georgia and the Sandwich Islands was responsible for more than 3,000 signatures

It also would seem that every MP is voting for a second referendum. Including two of the leaders of the Brexit campaign.

and

I don't think the BBC will bring this up on their news bulletins as they've been banging on about how the people are demanding this referendum for the last twenty four hours.

So you don't need to take heed of my last post. I do admit this is quite amusing to see how low some people can sink.

Saturday 25 June 2016

A petition to save the Referendum result.

There is a petition being voted on at the moment calling for a second referendum on the UK leaving the EU. Here is a counter petition. Do pass it on to everyone you know who would be interested.

A job well done.

Now we can get back to running our country our own way.

We're Better Off Out.

A cheery little message for why we should vote leave and not be tricked into remaining.

Interestingly on ITV's Meridian TV, two reporters visited the Market town of Faversham in Kent to gauge the mood of residents there. During the visit they asked people to join in a poll on how many were for Leave or remain. No-one could me more surprised at the result than me.

Leave: 34
Remain: 19

Food for thought.

An explanation of how the EU works. Or doesn't

Friday 17 June 2016

Leaving?

The results of my last Sunday poll on Leave or Remain in the EU. I think that some of my readers are slightly biased in their polling.

I would love to think this result would come to pass next Thursday

Scam.

Don't fall for this one.

You can tell it's a scam by the poor grammar and spelling.

Wednesday 15 June 2016

C*nt

Today a Flotilla of small craft sailed up the Thames in support of Brexit. In the process they were harried by a large pleasure boat filled with Remain supporters. This had been hired by arch twat Bob Geldorf who proceeded to shout and make rude gestures at fisherman in their boats who are just barely making a living.

I'm no gynecologist, but I know a C-nt when I see one.

Saturday 11 June 2016

Leave or remain in the EU?

Would you like to fill in another poll to see where we stand?

Friday 10 June 2016

Same old, same old, lies.

It would seem from the video below, that the Norwegian populace were told exactly the same lies that the remainers are peddling in the UK. Luckily for them they rejected the lies and are now a prosperous country free from EU meddling.

The best way to achieve Brexit with the minimum of political and economic disruption is to exit to an “off the shelf” interim solution which already exists in the form of the EFTA/EEA membership enjoyed by Norway. This is why David Cameron has suddenly started talking about “a vote to leave the single market” over the past few days – it is a tacit admission that if we vote to leave the EU but remain in the EEA, every single one of the Remain campaign’s arguments are instantly negated.

Wednesday 8 June 2016

Remain. Why?

Just a short movie you might enjoy. The Referendum game.

Just think about it.

Tuesday 7 June 2016

So what's changed your mind then Dave?

Could it be that now you're in power, you can forget about the promise you made before you became Prime Minister?
It shows how bad the political class is letting down the country.

Monday 6 June 2016

The wise generation choose Brexit.

A thought on why the older age group are voting for Brexit

"I keep hearing young people moaning about the fact their grandparents and/or other old people they know are voting to leave, because "it's us who will have to live with it."
"Do you honestly think your grandparents are unaware of this? Have you given no consideration to the possibility that they are voting in the interests of your future every bit as much as you are, but simply have different ideas about what serves it best? And have you not considered whether, perhaps, 80 years of life experience might know better than 20?"

Friday 3 June 2016

Europe as THEY want.

Well worth a read over at the semi partisan politics website. What THEY really want. THEY being those that have always advocated for a european superstate and bugger anyone that gets in their way.

Just a couple of tasters:

“Of course the European Commission will one day become a government, the EU council a second chamber and the European Parliament will have more powers.” — German Chancellor Angela Merkel addressing MEPs,  November 2012.
And this man should be tried for treason

“I look forward to the day when the Westminster Parliament is just a council chamber in Europe.” — Kenneth Clarke, Conservative Chancellor in International Currency Review Vol 23 No 4 1996
And you still want to REMAIN?

And there's more in the same vein. This time from our own socialists

They're all going to die if we leave the EU

That is Wildlife according to WWF and the RSPB.

(I didn't want to upset my reader with a pic of a dead animal. So I give you a pic of animal that is just about to deadify one)
Leaving the EU would put much of what has been achieved at risk. The evidence shows that nature has been well served by our membership of the European Union. So we have concluded that, on balance, the safer option for our wildlife and environment is for the UK to remain within the EU.
The article can be found in the Telegraph

Of course Camoron has jumped in with support on Twitter.

Do read the replies. He doesn't seem to merit any support. maybe he should just shut up pronouncing on every item in the MSM.

The right of self determination outside the EU

All I see in the press and the MSM in general is a plethora of articles against and for Brexit, dealing with the trivia of whether we leave or remain.

The politicians, the media, and business leaders, only seem to be able to discuss the business case.

They all fail to discuss the real issue at stake..

Let's have back our right to self determination of how we run our country for the benefit of the people of the UK. Why should faceless unelected EU bureaucrats tell us what's best for us.

This country managed perfectly well before the EU. (I seem to remember we had an empire before we bankrupted the country fighting two world wars to save Europe).

How can you be proud of a country knowing that it's run by people you've never heard of and were unelected.

Of course our politicians and the judiciary don't like the idea as they are probably terrified that if we have our country back, they might actually be held to account for bad decisions made. At the moment they can just state over and over again, "The EU made us do it Guv".

Mind you, looking at our ruling class, on second thoughts maybe we should vote REMAIN. (Noooooo). Then we hang them.

No. I truly believe our children and grandchildren can make a far better go of it if we leave.

We can put the GREAT back into Great Britain if we choose to leave. If we stay we'll just remain the UK. A vassal state of a failing, undemocratic union.

Of course Pat Condell tells it better than I ever could.

My childhood

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1930’s, 40's, 50's, and 60’s

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank Sherry while they carried us and lived in houses made with some asbestos...
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, bread and dripping, raw egg products, loads of bacon and processed meat, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer.
Then after that trauma, our baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets or shoes, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonalds , KFC, Subway or Curry House. Even though all the shops closed at 5.00 pm and didn't open on a Sunday, somehow we didn't starve to death!

We shared one soft drink with 4 friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We could collect old/empty drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy Toffees, Gobstoppers and Bubble Gum.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter, milk from the cow, and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because.......
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.
We would spend hours building go-carts out of old prams and then ride down the hill, only to find out we had forgotten the brakes. We built tree houses and dens and played in river beds with matchbox cars.

We did not have Play stations, Nintendo Wii , X-boxes, no video games at all, no 999 channels on SKY no video/dvd films, or colour TV, no mobile phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms . . .
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside to find Them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no Lawsuits from these accidents.
Only girls had pierced ears!
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

You could only buy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns at Easter time.

We were given air guns and catapults for our 10th  birthdays.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door, rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Mum didn't have to go to work to help dad make ends meet because we didn't need to keep up with the Jones's!

Not everyone made the rugby/football/cricket/netball team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! Getting into the team was based on MERIT!

Our teachers used to hit us with canes and gym shoes and throw the blackboard rubber at us if they thought we weren't concentrating!

We can string sentences together and spell and have proper conversations because of a good, solid three R's education.

Our parents would tell us to ask a Stranger to help us cross the road.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

Our parents didn't invent stupid names for their kids like 'Kiora' and 'Blade' and 'Ridge' and 'Vanilla' and Kanye

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL

Threats if we don't stay in the EU

A few days old but doesn't seem to have been mentioned by the "impartial" BBC.

Britain will be treated like a 'deserter' by the EU if it votes to leave, the president of the European Commission has said.Jean-Claude Juncker warned that Germany, France and other states would not 'bend over backwards' to help if the UK abandoned the union. It is the latest bloodcurdling threat about the consequences of cutting ties with Brussels. The French finance minister previously sparked fury by insisting the UK would be 'killed' by its former partners in negotiations over a post-Brexit trade deal.
I for one do not want to be threatened by an unelected president of the EU.

Not that it matters to me. I'm voting leave anyway.

The NHS needs to change.

In the last month or so I've become convinced that the NHS should be privatised.

Now I've nothing against the front line staff as I think they do a superb job. When I was hospitalised last month I found the nursing care was second to none.

The point I'd like to make is it is the other services that destroy it's effectiveness.

Until I could be discharged I had to await medication to be delivered to the ward from the pharmacy. I was told this would be ready by 10 O'clock. In the end I ended up storming out of the ward in my pyjamas and slippers followed by my daughter at 3PM. Arriving at the pharmacy I'm told that I can't have the medication as it has to be delivered to the ward. The air turned blue at that moment. Sanity eventually prevailed and I left the hospital and shuffled to my daughter's car.

And I thought that was a one off in mismanagement in the NHS. Oh no.

last week my ageing mother in law whose 94 (Bless her) suffered multiple falls in her warden assisted flat, and was eventually admitted to hospital for tests to find out why.

Getting her out of the hospital was a nightmare. The hospital rang yesterday and stated that she would be delivered home by 10 O'clock today. Right.

The ambulance arrived at her flat at 6.30 pm!

Mrs FE has been at the flat waiting since 9.30am. She is not pleased.

And the wheelchair/commode that we had to receive at her flat the night before she was discharged so that she could spend a penny at night time. The sodding thing is so big she'll trip over it and fall as she tries to exit the bedroom in the morning. (Incidentally, the loo is only about 10 paces across the hall way.)

How could a private company exist with that level of efficiency?

A very good read about why we should leave the EU

The EU referendum campaign is presenting us two competing choices. On the one hand a vision of Britain as part of a steadily-integrating EU (at whatever speed) or a vision of Britain completely outside it.For the Remain side, we are required to anticipate what may happen over the next generation which, if the last 40 years are anything to go by, will mean a gradual growth of EU power into more and more areas of competence - the ratchet towards “a country called Europe”.The vision of Britain outside generally uses a number of arguments employed over a long period: of the need to regain our sovereignty and become a self-governing democracy again; to have the flexibility to deregulate; to spend the UK’s EU contributions on something better inside the UK; to drive forward better trade deals with countries beyond the EU; and to constrain immigration. However let’s take this from a different angle and set out a third vision - a Leave proposition that rejects some of the arguments outlined above. In short, a liberal case for Leave.
The rest is at the Adam Smith Institute. The article spells out the very good reasons why leaving the EU is in the UK's best interest.

My own thoughts about the EU are that we have lost so much of our power of self determination since we had the referendum in 1975. Most of us at the time were coerced into thinking that we were just ratifying the common market agreement. We were so wrong. I actually feel ashamed that we have allowed our country's right of self determination to be stealthily taken away from us.

My biggest worry now is that the younger generation accept the current status quo and think that rule by Brussels is the only way to go. What they are never told is that our own elected government has little or no power to prevent nearly seventy percent of laws devised by the european  commission be forced upon us. Our parliament is effectively powerless. (In fact I'm not sure why it exists).

The UK was in the past the powerhouse of innovation and daring in the world. Oh how we have fallen. We could be Great again. The younger generation could make it so. Have they the courage that our ancestors had, or will they just allow their great country to just become a minor state in a federal europe?

It's your choice kids.

Prime Minister Cameron warns of Great Flood after Brexit

Having spoken to the Almighty, David Cameron announces: Following Brexit, there would not be enough wood to recreate Noah's Ark. Due to Calais migrants jumping into the sea, water levels would rise by 10 metres. Kent would disappear. 25 million would drown if Britain votes to leave the EU

And other project fear stories of disaster.

Sunday 22 May 2016

Just a thought.

Before we joined the EU we used to address letters home with the last line being "GB" for Great Britain.

Since being in the EU this has changed to "UK" for United Kingdom.

Why did we start being ashamed of being GREAT?

Saturday 21 May 2016

That poll on Brexit.

Last Sunday I posted a poll "Is David Cameron a shining light in the darkness of the referendum?".

The results are below.

Now I expected option 2 would get the most votes and it got me thinking. How accurate are the mainstream polls this time around? After all they got it wildly wrong at the general election.

At the moment the mainstream polls are predicting a win for remain and the bookies have shortened their odds to suit.

Yet if you look at online polls they seem in the main to indicate leave is ahead by a margin. I think their are a lot of people who are not letting on that they are going to vote leave.

Grandad. Religion versus the puritans

Grandad discusses the rise of the new puritans.

For a start, both Puritanism and Religion have the concept of eternal life in common.  While Religion applies this to spiritual eternity, the Puritans seem to believe in physical eternity.  Religion promises that if we obey the tenets of the belief that we will live forever in Heaven, while the Puritans tell us constantly that by not obeying their tenets, we will die physically, often with painful and debilitating consequences which presumably is their concept of Hell.
A good read and is found HERE.

Sin Taxes

As you'll see and hear in the video below, sin taxes are only imposed to bring in revenue to the chancellor.

Certainly in my lifetime I've seen taxes on popular pastimes treble and take a sizeable chunk of dosh out of my wallet.

The problem is that no-one questions these taxes any more. They just shrug their shoulders with the words "The experts know best".

But do they? Take one example. We were exhorted for decades to eat margerine as butter was bad for us. Now we are being encouraged quietly to eat butter again.

Who the fuck are these so called experts and why are they not being publicly hanged?

Monday 16 May 2016

The polar bears are doomed if we leave the EU.

You will also be destitute. This is scary indeed.

Mind you. If you showed this to some people they'd believe it. (It'll probably be shown on the BBC news just before voting day)

Back from the dead.

Not really.

One or two of you may have noticed that posts on this blog were becoming sparser and sparser in the last few months.

I was not well and eventually I was carted off to hospital in one of those vehicles with the blue lights on the top. (No, it was not a police car). I eventually ended up in a bed in the advanced medical care unit over the Easter holiday and spent ten days being watched over.

The interesting thing is that after I was discharged, I visited my GP and her first question was: "what did they diagnose you with". All I could reply with: "They never actually told me anything" They just discharged me.

I'm due to go back to hospital on an undisclosed later date for tests. Until then........

I'll try and post a few items off interest, but I may bore you with articles on why we should leave the EU.

You have been warned.

The result?

Last Wednesday I posted up an online poll on whether visitors to this blog wished to remain in the EU, or leave and become a self governing nation again. Below are the results.

image

Of course I don’t expect it to reflect the general population as a whole. The general public don’t get the time to read deeply on the rights and wrongs of the EU.

However it is food for thought. Even a forty percent less vote for leave would be a win for Brexit.

BTW. If you were one of the ten who voted to remain in this poll, I would be interested to have you comment below. Your views would be of interest to me.

Thursday 3 March 2016

And this is a politician who thinks remain europe will be good for us.

Conservative MP Matthew Hancock gives a car crash interview with Andrew Neil on the issue of UK possible exiting the EU. With an "impartial" document drawn up with the help of the Tory in-EU supporting civil service to try con people into not voting for Brexit, but Hancock doesn't even know facts on most the points he's talking about.

Vote leave puleeeese.

Leave or remain.

Just thought it would be interesting to find out the prevailing opinion by readers of this blog.

Sunday 28 February 2016

Just a thought

Our prime minister castigates those who wish to leave the EU by telling them they must have a coherent plan if the vote in the referendum is to leave.

He calls on Leave campaigners to spell out the kind of trading relationship Britain would have outside the EU and demands that they detail how the UK would cooperate with other countries to stop terrorists.

In an appeal to voters, the Prime Minister says jobs, the cost of living and family finances are all at stake in the referendum on June 23.

Isn’t that the job of the government of the day? To plan for both scenarios. Leave and remain.

After all the civil service have been instructed to withhold information about the EU from skeptical cabinet ministers. How can the leave campaign be blamed?

Sock puppets*

You might consider supporting charities is a good thing. But not if they are using it to influence government decision making.

All those featured in the vid support remaining in the EU. You can see why.

*sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception. The term, a reference to the manipulation of a simple hand puppet made from a sock, originally referred to a false identity assumed by a member of an Internet community who spoke to, or about, themselves while pretending to be another person.[1] The term now includes other misleading uses of online identities, such as those created to praise, defend or support a person or organization,[2] to manipulate public opinion,[3] or to circumvent a suspension or ban from a website. A significant difference between the use of a pseudonym[4] and the creation of a sockpuppet is that the sockpuppet poses as an independent third-party unaffiliated with the puppeteer. Many online communities attempt to block sockpuppets.

Brexit. The movie.

The trailer.

Do help to get this movie off the ground.

A short summary of the project

How we vote in the EU referendum will define how we live our lives. Do we want to live under a Europe-wide government, which few of us understand, run by people we don’t know, who have the power to impose on us laws that WE haven’t debated, and have little or no power to block or overturn? Is it safe to live under a government that we cannot hold to account? ... a government that feels under no obligation to work in our interests or to reflect our views? Is it safe to remain tied, economically, to a declining trade block, shut off from the rest of the world?BREXIT THE MOVIE spells out the choice before us, and makes the case for an independent and self-governing Britain.

Help us make BREXIT THE MOVIE and convince the nation that we should LEAVE the EU.

Wednesday 24 February 2016

Then and now.

leave

I remember well the last referendum on staying in the EU. It was pretty much one sided in favour of staying in. The politicos took over the main stream media and filled the average man’s brain with abject fear of what would happen if we left. The same as now.

Job losses, the stock market would go into freefall, the pound would collapse, our industry could not survive, etc, etc.

So we voted to stay in.

Then we experienced:

The decimation of our fishing grounds by foreign super trawlers, and lost most of our orchards due to the common agriculture policy, the ability to control our population in this small island nation, seventy percent of our laws are now drafted by the EU commission and just nodded through into British law

My thoughts on that last item is why then do we need 650 MP’s to sit back and let others decide the future of our country? Best bet would be to save a considerable amount of money by hanging seventy percent of the MPs and make the remainder work for a living. or better still, hang the lot and start again!

Those of us who would vote to leave are going to have to fight a very one sided battle against those that wish to remain. There is so much vested interest in the remain camp and vast sums of money to be spent in frightening the average Joe into voting to remain.

There is one difference between then and now which could address the balance to some extent.

We didn’t have the internet in the seventies. If I can just persuade a handful of people to vote leave then I’ll consider my job done.

Saturday 9 January 2016

There was a man.

And lo, a voice said unto him:

"Give up smoking, drinking, sweet things, salt, and all manner of evil things. If you do so, you will be rewarded by an extra nine years of life".

So the man did.

And lived another nine, miserable, unhappy, joyless years.

Then he died.
